I was always freaked out by Arsineo's ultra long fingers -- like E.T.
I do remember waaaay back when, at university, catching that Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox from the Eurythmics.
Okay, did a quick search on youtube and found it. It's from 1989. A little boring in the middle, but worth catching the last 60 seconds. This is an electronic band sitting there with a guitar and a singer. Before you listen think about the shit made today. Written and overly produced by everyone OTHER than the band/singer, and usually the singer's voice is digitized to make someone marketed as a sex symbol appear to be a singer. Watch this and tell me these two don't have more talent in the corner of their eyes than Katy Perry has in her whole body. These two actually wrote their own stuff. The most remarkable thing to me is how close she sounds to the studio recordings. Amazing.
I probably haven't heard the Eurythmics in years, but that appearance on Arsineo always stuck in my mind. Thanks for the good memories of days gone by -- but too bad I'm reminded how much rubbish is played today. Growing up with stuff like Led Zeppelin and classic rock to 80s club music I can't help but notice that writing your own music doesn't seem as common anymore. I do realize it was once common for other people to write an "artist's" songs, so I guess everything does come full circle.
