I know Manfrotto has some articulating arms with clamp mounts, but they are look pretty heavy. Does anyone know of a clamp on arm setup that you could clamp it onto one of your tripod legs and be able to run the kestrel wind vane mount?

This would be something that would be used in a static position, not like in a match. Trying to keep from having to carry 2 tripods out in the field.

Thanks

A few different ways I have mounted the Kestrel......apologies in advance for any Butler Creek cap sightings...they have since all been relegated to unworthy door stops. Kestrel was useful for this 800M 16" LaRue OBR cold bore shot.

A 1/4” 20 all thread and a tripod table of some sort...or a camera bar...I’m going to build something this weekend...just a simple mount that attaches to the tripod and holds my binos range finger and the kestrel in the vain.

Weighs 3lbs 4oz as pictured. Take off camera bracket and it makes it 2lb 14 oz. It's made to hold a full size camera with lens so you can get away with something significantly smaller
The big clamp is really what you need. It has threaded holes so you can stick the smaller articulating arms on it.

The plus side of the arm I have is the one knob controls tension on everything. No need to adjust the arms, and each individual end. Loosen large knob, move in place, tighten.

I'm curious what you ended up doing. I had bought this to use on the Henderson Gen 2 OMP. I figured out, too, that it will screw right into the side of the apex on an RRS tripod. I'm trying to figure out the best way to use the Kestrel wind vane. I've not seen anyone using it at a match but it seems like it would work if setup can be quick and accurate.
