Pipe dream...too far reaching. This guy Cicilline is from my state. He is a total embarrassment and he is doing all things possible to save his cozy job. He ran a poll on a RI site and it got shut down as the NOs had 77% of the vote.

We are fucked in RI though. We had it pretty good compared to MA and CT. No restrictions at all but that will be changing soon. Governor declared us a Red Flag state via EO. I have one more year to go before I move should things change. I would rather live in NH anyways as it is NFA friendly

Not that you guys need to hear this but I think our country Australia is a good reminder of what will happen to you guys if they push for these semi auto bans etc.

We started off with bans on semi autos, pump action shot guns etc back in 1996 which is what the media both here and from what I have seen in the US too keeps using as an example of what Americans should look too. There is a guy here in Australia called ozzie reviews on youtube who has done a couple of videos on Australian gun laws and what they have quietly banned since 1996 worth a look for those looking for evidence to show others of what happens when bans start.

Basically since the original bans in 1996 they have put limits on magazine capacity's they have banned lever action shot guns with more than 5 shots there is talk of bans on pump action rifles, guns in some states are starting to be banned based on appearance ie if they look like AR15 type military rifles they can now be banned even if its just a bolt action. And the most recent of all in my state soon we are going to have ammo restrictions as to how many rounds we can buy and are only allowed to buy ammo for the rifles that we are licensed to have. And possible a ban on reloading equipment ie how much powder you can buy per year etc.

It does not stop once they start they keep on rolling. watch out.

Yup i think we all relaxed when Trump won but they're sensationalizing it as much as they can to push their narrative. Though it seems impossible to reason with these people. I've tried to explain this to friends of mine that aren't into guns or just kind of think "oh well doesn't effect me.". If we snapped our fingers tomorrow and semi-automatic rifles disappeared out of thin air what would change? It's a rhetorical question that has a very simple answer. Nothing. The crimes would be committed with some other inanimate object, then it would be the new evil object on their list to ban. It would cascade from one firearm to another until they got what they really want, which is a ban on firearms equivalent to that of Australia.

What they don't realize and will never realize is that legislation has not and will not ever stop crime. It's a simple as that. I had someone in my immediate family for God's sake that told me "worse that's going to happen is they're going to raise the age limit on rifles. Besides those things are just for recreational use and not even that popular." To which i was a bit taken aback at the sheer ineptitude of it. My counter to the age limit is voting and going to war. It's completely hypocritical for the gov't to tell 18 year old kids they're welcome to put on a plate carrier and serve the country but too irresponsible to own a rifle. Now i know the current generation is scary and there seems to be little hope for those to come, but that's still completely hypocritical IMHO.

But yes, i'm more nervous this time around because the tactics they're employing seem to be working.

Their tactics are working because they worked while we were resting on our laurels - the outcome of the 2016 elections.
The left prepared their ads, put pressure on companies, drafted laws, and probably even organized the busing of victims to DC while waiting for the next pimple-faced lunatic to go on a murder spree.
Meanwhile the HPA never made it to vote, the national carry reciprocity got stuck who knows where, and all you hear is crickets from those we based our hopes on.
As deranged as their goals and methods are, I have to give it to the left that at least they are fighting for their distopia.

I used to write long explanations of what I thought. Now I just say, not one single inch on anything.

There is more than one reason the left will not address violence in any of it forms and we will continue to see pokes like this at the 2A because they are easy, mindless, and headline grabbing. Meaningful solutions are expensive, take more time than a sound bite, more verbiage than allowed by twitter, and most dauntingly they take more thoughtfulness than our political discourse can stomach. All of this lends me a darker mood than anyone wants to hear about.

However, if social issues cannot/will not be addressed and there is going to be legislation it is going to be for getting rid of the NFA, repealing GCA 1968, criminal and civil liability for non-prosecution of gun crimes with increased liability if the actor was legally barred from possessing a firearm to begin with (San Francisco will oppose this), criminal and civil liability for any public entity that denies or impedes the right to bear arms resulting in harm, 10x penalties for gang members and organized crime using/possessing firearms (ACLU will scream about this), mandatory capital punishment for school shootings whether or not a death resulted (the entire gun hating left will go full retard at this), an examination and proviso for penalties (trade status, fines, levies, etc.) for any country or foreign entity be it an individual, corporation, or public entity that seeks to alter or diminish any provision of the US Constitution be it directly or indirectly including funding of lobbying efforts by any means or avenues whatsoever (the list of foreign entities that will immediately fund lobbying efforts to oppose this is too long to enumerate)... This is and an ass-load more are the beginning of negotiations.

Now go write that note and a check big enough that it causes a sphincter spasm.

Too many CA people in Tahoe. I spent most of my Nevada time in Sparks. Was a contractor there for an aerospace company. There wasn't a ton to do but people seemed genuine.

I just came back from a business trip to Idaho. I was in Hayden which is up the road from coeur d'alene. Met a bunch of very friendly people there. Beautiful area and very affordable relative to Rhode Island. There was a rifle range next door to where I was working. Going back in a couple of months and planning to bring my stick with me.

the big issue is you better read carefully what they are trying to pass and the wording they are using. this is just one of many that I found.

I am in agreement about the election year part. I also do not believe that they will do more than take away bump stocks and maybe raise the age to 21 yrs, but those that say any infringement is too much and if they start there where will it stop have a valid point IMO opinion as well. In the end, politicians at the federal level don't actually want to fix these problems. Crisis, war, division, and unrest is good for their business. So lots of grandstanding, emotional speeches, over the top legislation, etc. If we lived in a self-governing utopia, they would be rendered useless and their cash cow (the American people) would dry up.

Guns are a very easy way to divide the American people, just like race, a two party political system that no other independent party seems to be able to break into, income, gender, etc, etc.. Its low hanging fruit for them. We can no longer have an honest conversation in this country, everyone always has to be right or wrong (on opinion issues) and anyone that thinks differently is marginalized and attacked.

We don't need more laws, we need more accountability at our highest levels, and more personal freedom without fear of being attacked or marginalized for morally exercising that personal freedom.

On a personal note, I think I'll hold onto that AK that I was contemplating selling...just in case.
