With the new USSC ruling things are gonna get spicy soon. "Can you show me how your regulation of machine guns meets the new diligence requirements in NYSRPA vs Tyrants?"
The more important SC case in this instance is WV vs EPA…
Here is the thing. Nobody cares. Nobody gonna do anything and they will continue to trample anyone that gets in their way.
This is how they go after us all one at a time while nobody does anything to stop them.

Whatever his actual intentions were, and whatever the actual truth of what happened really is, the entire situation played right into the hands of the government and was the excuse for even more power and using the government against anyone who spoke ill of the government.
The narrative was quickly and easily changed to garner sympathy for the government.
I'm confused, are we somehow justifying the killing of nearly 170 people?

From the looks of the charges, he had worse things than a couple of FRTs. Looks like an illegally converted MP5 clone, 38 3d printed glock full auto switches, a couple of unregistered suppressors, and what could be several unregistered SBRs.
WV vs EPA won't protect him from any of those charges, even if it does get the FRTs dropped.
How incredibly convenient! I wouldn't be half surprised if they also found a few keys of cocaine, child porn and his handwritten manifesto detailing his plans to overthrow the government and reestablish segregation in the US.
Then after he hangs himself with a bed sheet in his cell before making it to trial we can forget all about him and focus on more important things, like monkeypox and global warming.

The more likely explanation is that the guy is an idiot who got caught doing shit he knew would potentially put him in conflict with the feds.
Lots of folks these days are like, I'm just going to do what I want and ignore these unconstitutional laws about firearms.
As this guy is about to find out, the government and the courts love and I mean LOVE to setup show trials and make examples of them to keep the rest of the sheep in line.
And the guy is probably going to find out that his fellow "strident 2A supporters" aren't going to be storming the gates to come rescue him.

That being said as a disclaimer, it does seem to follow a pattern that some of the folks who the headlines say got busted for something in the "grey area" or "still under discussion as to the status", tend to have a bunch of other stuff going on as well where they clearly stepped over the line with the government.
Much like the headline arrest for the guy selling the metal calling cards that had the outline of a lightning link laser engraved onto them. It seems the more in depth story was that he had a lot of other "stuff" going on as well.
There might be something to be said for if you come up a few too many times on the radar for "naughty stuff", the government decides you are a good candidate to make an example out of, since they are sure to get a conviction or plea agreement on at least one or more of the stack of things.

After the most recent federal imposed regulation on my 2nd amendment rights, I emailed my "Republican" senator to express my displeasure.
She responded that it should not be a problem unless I was a criminal (or words to that effect).
The problem is that the new regulations start me down the path on the way to becoming a criminal. A path that I was not on before.

To be fair, those folks pretty much were in the "After the first one all the rest are free" situation.
When getting caught with any firearm or ammunition or a radio or such meant the death penalty, well then pretty much everything is on the table for you because it's all the same.
