Cool to see the new gen3 is coming and that Defense Distributed is still alive and kicking with or without Cody Wilson at the helm. For those that don't know, Defense Distributed's founder, Cody Wilson, was named one of the most dangerous people on the internet and the world by Wired magazine for his part in making 3d printable guns, and the codes to make them available for "free" on the internet.

Sadly, despite all of the authorities efforts to bring him down, ultimately it was Cody who "fucked" himself by hooking up with an underage prostitute he met on Meetsugardaddies.com or some such site.

Not really the point. Once you digitize the computer code for making all the pieces for receivers, guns, magazines, parts, autosears,etc, then distribute them for free on USB keys or the internet, and then make/distibute the means to produce them, regulation becomes, at most levels, irrelevant.

If it made a whole, one piece i could see the value. With 3 it sounds like a point of failure. I know i have seen cad files shared to make complete lowers and uppers, but this only makes one part, the other two you have to purchase from the company. Don’t think the atf could go into their database and see who purchased the parts and how many?

It doesn't matter if they know who bought the non regulated parts. None of it is illegal.
The point now is they can't ban 0% blocks of metal that create the normally serialized part.

I expect the regulation will be that by the year 2030~ all "CNC machines" must have an internet connection. They will be required to automatically send the code to a government server where it can be reviewed in the future.

So, some of that regulation has been in place for years. If I move my Yasda, Okuma or even the lowly Hass vmc, I have to contact the mfg. for a code to fire it up. Two out of three require internet connection.
Once I have the code(s) I can take it off line and still operate. Fed regulation, all mfgs selling in the US are bound.

I'm sure there are some people sitting in prison who said the exact same thing and are regretting it right now.

My thought would be if you want to machine you own lowers, uppers or any other parts just buy an actual mill and lathe and learn how to do it yourself. If someone can afford $2400 for a tiny CNC machine to make 3 piece lowers in an attempt to flip the bird to the ATF I'm guessing that they have the coin or credit limit to spend a little more and get a quality machine that can build anything.

The ATF may one day try and ban computer programs but they can't ban knowledge that you have in your head.

I get the idea, just not the approach. If it was one piece and you either print it or machine it, i can get that. But i had better not have to buy proprietary parts from the one and only source. Seems silly.

It doesn't matter if we could make all of the guns and ammunition in the world, no American has the balls to use them for what the 2nd amendment was intended. Even if we did have the balls we're too divided as a nation to do any fucking good. We spend too much time fighting each other to do anything to stop what the government has planned for us anyway.
