Athlon Cronos BTR / Burris XTR III / Leupold M5

Looking to try something different on either my Vudoo or Re-Barreled CZ457. Currently running a NF NX8 4-32 on the Vudoo. I would like to be less than $1800 (the Cronos is a lot less) other suggestions are welcome. I could also pull a Vortex Razor HD Gen 2 4.5-27 off a center fire. Currently shooting NRL22 and other tactical/precision matches out to 250 yards. Thanks

I am running a Athlon Ares ETR and am absolutely satisfied and amazed with it. It is a 4.5X30X56. Glass is super clear and has all the features my 3K Nightforce ATACR has. I am seriously considering buying another one for my Vudoo I ordered a few weeks ago. I don't think you will be unhappy with the Cronos or the Ares especially for the money.

I had an Ares ETR and I now have a Cronus BTR. I traded the ETR just because I've wanted a Cronus for a while but they are very, very close IMO. Without tearing them apart I couldn't tell you which was higher quality internally and I wouldn't know what to look for anyway. The glass in both appear excellent, the ETR turrets are more distinct and some of the best I've felt but the Cronus turrets are very good. I haven't messed with S&B, etc. so I don't know how they compare to that level of scope. The mag adjustment and side focus are lighter on the ETR and very smooth while the Cronus borders on too heavy. Either one, assuming they are durable for the long haul, would make me happy.

I bought 4 Athlon Ares 4.5-27x50 BTR MILL & 2 Argos BTR 8-34x56 MILL all 6 for for $1800 OTD & couldn't be happier. I wanted 30mm tubes as thats what I'm set up for. You tubers complained about the soft clicks which was just heavy grease & a quick wipe with a Q tip & they click loud & positive.

I have a Ares BTR that is surprisingly nice. The only thing i don't like is the Mil/Mil, I prefer MOA, so it has to go!

Why, a ruler is a ruler, you can't measure the target from 200 yards away and I certainly can't shoot the difference in clicks between the two, especially with a .22.

I find the math easier with MOA...just used to it.

You can range with the scope reticle. We shoot golf balls at 300 yards with subsonic 22lr.
