I just picked one up for $299 on sale. I have mixed feelings so far.
It's totally usable, I don't have any other modern scopes in the $3-500 range to compare it to right now but I'm not dissapointed. That being said mine has two flaws which may or may not be "normal". Not deal breaking, but definetly things that are wrong/could have been done better.
I like the glass for the price. It's clear, and not overly fussy to get behind. It's obviously not on par with $1000+ scopes, but its totally usable.
Reticle is good, I prefer a floating dot over full crosshairs, but it has a simple but functional tree reticle. Illumination is not super bright but addequate, and illuminates the whole reticle. I think the line thickness fits the zoom range well. You can still pick it up at 6x, but it's still thin enough to not obscure targets at 24x.
Mechanically everything feels pretty good, all the turrets, focus, zoom run smoothly. Turret feel is a touch soft if you're someone who likes super loud tactile clicks. I'm not picky about that, and feel that I can pick out individual clicks just fine. I have not had a chance to take it to the range yet, so unfortunately no opinion yet on tracking. Diopter was screwed down tight and jammed when delivered. Took two hands to loosen, but now runs fine. Paralax was also stiff, but after running it through its range a few times it it has freed up. Maybe just needed to move the grease around on the orings a bit or something.
Fit and finish are fine. It looks to me like it has type two anodizing rather than type three (hard). It's a glossier darker bead blast finish that you usually find with 6061 or soft anodized parts. But the finish is even, and machine work is clean.
Comes with flip up end caps which I like quite a bit for free kit.
The bad-
With the illumination on and the zoom backed out there's a bit of red ghosting in the top left of the lense. This may be a MFG defect, or just an artifact of a sub-par design, honestly I don't know. It doesn't prevent using it, but its there. Zoomed in past 10x or so it dissapears. I'll probably give them a call and see about either exchanging or repairing it. (Anyone else have one and see this in theirs?)
The turret markings are just a touch off from ligning up. Elevation is very close, but windage is a bit more noticible. It's not so bad that it's going to confuse someone, but again, its there.
Lastly is the turrets in general. They have 6 mills per revolution, and no zero stop. I feel like at some point I'm going to be trying to dial fast, get lost counting six from the first rev plus whatever from the second and then try to go back to zero and not have a stop and get lost in the dials. Like everything else, workable, but not ideal.
