When using an AR-15, does shooting with Atlas bipod legs tilted forward at 45 degrees have the potential to shift POI/affect accuracy over shooting with the legs straight up and down in a more traditional fashion?

What do you mean by "on me"? Does that mean that if I had the proper form it would overcome any mechanical disadvantage that I'm inadvertently putting myself at? That may very well be the case, just curious if you could elaborate.

I"m forced to shoot off a bench if I go to the range close to home. I will admit that I'm having a hard time getting comfortable. I'm having to tilt the legs forward to get the rifle low enough, and even then I'm not able to square my shoulders up perpendicular with the rifle and get it in front of me like I would prone. Just wanted to make sure I'm not putting myself at a mechanical disadvantage. The 100 yard groups looks great, but at 200 yards it's already starting to open up. I can shoot way better, way further with a bolt action.

Try raising the legs to get a better position. You just might be surprised. My range has some pretty short benches and I have had to raise the bipod legs on my Atlas, I carry an old Shooter's Bible, about 1.25" thick and use that to shim the legs up. Taller rear bag as well.

I have a similar issue at my local range. The bipod legs feel too tall when shooting from the bench. But, the range provides 4 sand bags for every shooting position. As I bring my own, I use theirs to elevate my butt. But sitting on the sand bags I can get my body high enough to feel comfortable behind the taller than I would otherwise like rifle.
