Atlas Super Cal vs. Ckyepod for ELR style rifle

Mainly what the title says, curious as to the those that have got their hands on a Super Cal, your opinions on its intended use on an ELR style rifle. One that isn't carried and its not a PRS rig or comp rig, etc. just a rifle used prone 9 times out of 10 for hitting steel. Compared to the Ckyepod? I don't have a Ckyepod (yet), but have shot off of a buddys but if you have experience with both that would be great to know!

SCAL is really good.
Noticeably more stable than the smaller Atlas bipods.

While I prefer my Elite iron for most prone use the SCAL is 3/5 the price and definitely more the 3/5 the performance.

I’d 100% recommend one to a friend.

No experience with the Cykepod as it’s more of a gamer bipod and that’s not my gig.
It’s seems to put the apex below the barrel.

My SCAL puts the apex slightly above barrel and Elite Iron apex is a few inches above the barrel.

Appreciate the info! I already own 2 other atlas bipods but bought them before the CAL's came out so haven't tried any of the CAL's yet lol When you say "apex slightly above barrel" are you referring to the pivotal axis of the bipod? If not could you elaborate?

He means the apex of the legs. As in, if you create an imaginary line of both legs intersecting, above the attachment point, that apex point is either in line with the bore, or above it (both desirable).

Where the legs would intersect if creating a triangle.
The higher it is the more stability you feel.

I own both. From a pure prone/bench setting, I'll take the scal every time.

I have a CAL, a SCAL, and a Cykepod. The SCAL is by far the most stable, and the CykePod the most flexible. The CAL is a great compromise as long as you don’t run out of height.

Hey thanks for chiming in. I went from a Harris to the Cal and it was a 'wow' type improvement. The dif b/t Cal and S Cal is significant enough you'd upgrade if bench shooting only? Height is not an issue I run it at most 2 notches up. Thanks again

If you are happy with the groups you are getting with the CAL, have enough elevation, and can get comfortable behind your rifle, I would say you are GTG. I do find, however, I shoot tighter groups with the SCAL. Just be aware the lowest position on the SCAL is about the same as two clicks up on the CAL on my rifle.

The accutac HS50 is nicer and more stable than both. Short of an Elite Iron, it's what I would run.

Oh wow thank you dang. I had not considered the height and I have to say that would make the SCAL a no go fo rme....too high. Man thank you so much for taking the time to show me that b/c I would have dropped coin needlessly. I love my Cal, but figured what the heck why not wider if it can work....just outside useable for me. Thank you again all for the input.

I have both and prefer the SCal over the Cal off of the bench and roof top as it has more cant and is more stable. But if you already have a Cal and are bench only you might want to look at other options like SEB Joypod-X, more money but also more adjustment features. I haven’t shot off of the Joypod but have shot off of the SEB Max and he definitely makes a quality product.

If you go SCal I put RRS SC-ARC on mine and it works great.

Rotating the leg degrees one click forward (or backward) may be all you need to get the lower height desired on the SCAL.
