I just wanted to pass along my experience with this seller.
I was looking for an Osprey Gas Piston Kit for my AR so like a lot of folks I shopped around on the net for the best price. EXTREME Guns & Ammo had the kit that I needed for $300 shipped and in stock so I ordered it.
I had to order another handguard for my AR to accomodate the piston system and it took a couple of weeks for me to receive it. In the mean time I decided to check the piston part of the kit to make sure it would clear the barrel, etc. As it turned out, it did not. I had been told by two emplyees at EXTREME Guns (I believe one of them was the owner) that the Osprey Kit WOULD work with my system.
Upon checking the website, EXTREME charges a 25% restocking fee (that is $75.00 just to return an unused item!!!). I called and talked to an employee to see if they could give me a break on the fee and was advised that:
1-That is the store policy.
2-It was MY responibility to make sure the kit fit my gun before I made the purchase.
I asked him to check with the owner to see if they could cut me a break. I didn't mind paying a restocking fee but $75 seemed a little steep. He told me that they would call me back, but they never did. I left two phone messages and sent two emails regarding the issue with no response, so rather than return the kit to them I sold it a more of a loss to a private party because I did not want to deal with them anymore.
Anyway, I would stay away from them, it is obvious they are not big on customer retention.

So why didn't you call Osprey and make sure it would fit with the company that makes it? I agree they were wrong in telling you it would fit without actually knowing. However, it seems like your bitching about their return policy when you said yourself it was clearly stated on their website. If it were me I would have checked with the manufacturer and cross referenced the part numbers before ordering from a company with a less than ideal return policy. It's a hard lesson to learn sometimes, but for you to expect them to cut you a break just shows this was a learning experience for you. Next time check with the company that makes it, then buy from a reputable dealer that has a return policy you can deal with. I know if I need something I get it from Brownells. They are a SH Sponsor and they stand behind everything they sell. I had a ceramic stone set that arrived with one cracked and they sent me out a replacement the same day. Good luck in the future
