I looked at the images first, without knowing which was which. Turn out I thought the older style was more user-friendly and easier to view.

That being said, I really don't have much use for a printed map.

At first I had the same reaction as you did. But when I really started to look at the details and how it was put together it packed a ton more information and was easier to traverse. It also gives you a good feel for the general terrain of the country and one glance.

Why would anyone want a map of Canada?

I found it quite amazing how much more info was on the new map and appeared to actually be much more clear and uncluttered.
