I have owned a M82 Barrett for about 10 years. I probably have 100 rounds through it. I was never that excited about it because of the accuracy. I am thinking of selling it and getting an AI AX50. I plan to shoot the Hornady AMAX 750 grain rounds through it (unless you have a different recommendation)

However, I have about 1K of API rounds loaded up already for the Barrett. I loaded these using surplus brass but culled them for weight uniformity and weighed each charge to try to make them as accurate as possible for this type of bullet.

What is a realistic expectation for both the AMAX and also API and Surplus ball from the AX50?

You should check out the Cadex Tremor. I’m a huge AI fan but IMO the Cadex is a better rifle and will run you about $4K less.

As to accuracy is depends on if the gun likes the ammo. It could shoot the Hornady .5moa or it could shoot it 2moa. My experience with any sort of ball ammo in the 50’s I’ve owned is that it’s not precision ammo. About 2moa is the norm.
