AXSA or AT: Need some advice

Looking at an AT and I’m currently being talked toward an AXSA. I will need to make some glass concessions for the AXSA to cover the difference. What would everyone go with:

AT with ATACR 7-35 F1

or

AX with Vortex HD Razor II

Thanks in advance!!

My choice would be the AT with better glass. TT 525, ZCO 527 or S&B 3-27. I dont care for the NF personally. Unless you need the few extra features the AX chassis system gives you, you aren't gaining anything really performance wise. AT still has the bridge capability also if forward pic rail space is a concern. If you can get a deal on one, great. But I wouldn't pay 7k for one. 5k.. sure.

Exactly my thoughts.

I would rather have the AT with a Comp Trigger and a ZCO. You can always upgrade the buttstock to an AX later if you want.

An AT and AX will shoot identical, it really comes down to your primary use. If you're shooting matches, I would actually stick with the AT. If you hunt with NV, or you need the stock to fold over the bolt for covert transport, then the AX might be worth the premium.

I never got why an AX buttstock was so desirable, especially for that much money.
Do you really adjust your comb and LOP that often? Unless you need the top rail, it just makes you mount your scope higher. AT + Better glass!

As mentioned already. Both will shoot exactly the same! So just go with your gut feeling, what are you drawn to the most? When spending that sort of money you need to be happy at the end. It’s easier to upgrade the glass at a later date, picking up a good deal if you see one. It’s not as though you’re looking at shite glass. AI’s hold their value second hand, so would argue it’s important to get the rifle right first time.

The AX mag cut away for loading in the prone I think is neat and folding over the bolt is very useful imo. Initially I bought the AX because that’s what I wanted.... however at at later date bought an AT. Why because I loved the classic thumbhole look.

In my opinion the AX stock on the AT looks a bit Frankenstein and not quite right..... unless paired with the obsession chassis which looks perfect.

AT thumbhole or AX is my vote! But rest assured.... buying one, won’t stop you from wanting another one!

When I use AX buttstock, I absolutely change the pad height for prone vs barricades.

Great advice. Thank you. I was able to get a very good deal being retired LE and grabbed a AX in Elite Sand. I do agree that they are both amazing, I just didn’t want to look back and wish that I got the AX. Weather sucks here right now so I’ll save for a while and get some better glass in a few months. Probably sell some more ammo too. Lol. Thanks everyone!

@Sgposin you won’t regret the AX, I owned an AT and AX for a bit and never shot the AT. Sold the AT and don’t regret it. I do get nostalgic from time to time for the thumbholes. It’s one of those things that if there is even a little part of you that wants the AX, you’ll eventually find a way to get into one.
