I recently purchased an AXSR and was looking to add an extra barrel that I can shoot high volume, .308 or 6.5. The smith only has heavy palma contours, 1: 7.5 in stock. Does anyone have any experience with something similar? My POU is more around precision, than portability.

You will need a barrel with a 1.350 shank. Not too many barrel manufacturers normally make that size, standard is 1.250. Hence why you only see AI prefits, normally Bartliens, or the Proof Prefits. Not saying it's can't be done. Only a few smiths I know of has done it. But you are not taking a normal blank and turning it to work on a ASR/MC pattern rifle.
