I have a new in package Badger Ord. Steel Recoil Lug. marked P/N 1005-306-01, that I have not used yet, that I got from Triad. It's marked as .313" thick and I mic'ed it @ exactly .313" Thick.

On the Badger site all the recoil lugs are listed as .312" thick. The Manners MCS-DBM system also notes that it will take up to a .312" recoil lug.

Has Badger changed the spec's on the lugs, or will this .313" lug indeed fit into the MCS-DBM Mini Chassis system as is?

I just don't want to find out down the road, when I get my finished barreled action back from Krieger (they are doing the fitting chambering and truing), and the finished GAT stock from Manners, that they don't all fit together because of a pesky .001".

I also sent Marty a PM asking the same question, but maybe somebody here knows.

    Thanks,

    Bob

Re: Badger recoil Lug & Manners MCS-DBM Nini Chassis

no first hand experience with the mini-chassis but if it is advertised to fit up to a .312 lug, i would hope there is at least a few thousandths space in front of it. if a .313" lug won't fit, i would think the fit on a .312" lug would be tighter than i would want it. even if it won't fit with a .313" lug, it should only take a few minutes with a dremel tool or mill to open up the lug recess. i am assuming they made the lug recess deep enough to fit the height of the badger lug but that is something to check into also. if it isn't deep enough, the bottom of the lug will need to be machined off a bit.

I have the Badger recoil lugs sat here and it also mics up .313 and the packet states .313.

I got a Holland lugs for my AICS build but still had to grind .030 off the bottom of the lug

Ask Krieger to surface grind the lug. Take .005" off or a 100% clean up, which ever comes first and be safe. Chances are it needs to be surface ground anyway.

Ill measure the Mini Chasis lug inlet for the 700 SA i have here at the house. Ill pm you with a measurement

Why pm him the measurements? Why not put it out for everyone to read? I'm sure more will have questions with this new chassis set-up.

Re: Badger recoil Lug & Manners MCS-DBM Nini Chassis

    Guys,

Heard from Marty@Badger via PM, and here's what he had to say:

    ----------------------------------------------------------
The lug will fit your Manners stock.

The correct thickness of the lug is .3125 +/- .0005

The literature has floated a bit over the years.

    Thanks
    Marty

    ---------------------------------------------------------

So the Badger Lug will fit the Manners MCS-DBM Min Chassis. Since Marty builds both, so he should know.

But William Roscoe also had some sound advice, and I will ask Krieger to surface grind and clean up the lug.

    Thanks to all,

    Bob

The lug cut out on the mini chassis measures about .315". You should have no problem with a .313" lug. If guys plan to run one of the large lugs that are on the market, just let us know at time of order and we will open them up just a little. Thank you very much,
