Is there really a meaningful advantage to using the beefy Badger USMC rings over standard Badger rings??

Why would a person pick one over another?

Anyone use the standard Badger rings and have any problems/regret their decision?

TIA,
Spaghetti

Re: Badger rings USMC vs Standard??

Nope, no regrets.

I have both and like 'em, but tend to use the beefier rings with my 34mm scope tubes.

Also have NightForce rings (30mm) and like 'em.

You can also consider Seekins and USO rings with no regrets.

Good stuff, made by good folks.

Re: Badger rings USMC vs Standard??

I highly doubt you will find a standard high quality ring that has failed to do its Job. With that said I have a pair of the USMC. LOL. figures HUH?

Re: Badger rings USMC vs Standard??

I have the the USMC rings. I believe they are called the m40a3 model and my scope isn't going anywhere. I should a Remington 700 Police in 300 Win Mag, if that helps! 100% satisfied with them.

I got the USMCs, then switched out to Near Manufacturing because the USMCs added too much weight and height. Now that I changed out my stock, I'm back to the USMCs because my Nears aren't high enough.

Re: Badger rings USMC vs Standard??

The weight doesn't bother me. The quality and finish is outstanding. Each set, like many other high quality rings, is machined and serial numbered as a pair from Badger. I run the low height 34mm model and then run standard Badger lows on a couple more rifles. My friend also uses standard Badger mediums on his AI AE and we never worry about anything and they've taken a beaten from the sand box to local range. Many companies' rings work, but many service members I know, myself included, swear and are loyal to Marty and his guys at Badger.

Re: Badger rings USMC vs Standard??

I have used Nightforce rings, Leupold's mark4 rings, and the TPS rings. All hold the scopes securely, and work like they are supposed to.

I'm trying to figure out what justifies the greater expense of some manufacturer's rings over many of the cheaper models. Aesthetics counts, but only to a degree. I am more interested in performance. For me, rings correctly aligned and made are more important than the looks.

If the rings are truly concentric, don't pinch the scope, hold the scope securely, work as I expect them to, and have great longevity (I have never worn any of the tactical type rings out..only the Leupold sporting types have worn out), what is there to justify one brand of ring's greater expense over a cheaper model.

For what it is worth, all the rings that I am familiar with, Seekins, Badger, Nightforce, Leupold, TPS, work well. There are plenty of other quality rings that I don't have any experience with, such as Schmidt & Bender, Sako and many others. I'm not insulting any of the rings out there, as I haven't found any that aren't quality products. I'm just trying to find out what justifies the great price variance between different brands.
