More academia SJW insanity, this time at one of sirhrmechanic 's ab-fabs, Oberlin College and Conservatory, as the faculty and administration apparently have orchestrated the near-destruction of a local business tired of student shoplifting.
A photo caption from the student rag, concerning the fight that began in 2016, reads:
"Students chant across the street from Gibson’s Bakery in Tappan Square Thursday evening. Protests ran from around 11 a.m. until Gibson's closed at 11 p.m."
That's right. Twelve hours, and probably for academic credit. The shop has now sued Oberlin and one of its deans.
The catalyst event involved three students of color who were apparently conniving to shoplift two bottles of wine. An employee, the owner's son, attempted to arrest them, and a brawl ensued that started in the back of the shop, tore through to the front of it, and ended up outside on the street.
Despite the students' insistence that race was not a factor, aggrieved moonbat sentiment is that Gibson's is, was, and always has been a racist establishment. Now, they are bereft of institutional sales in the one-business town of 8,500, and hurting.
Once again, the little darling liberal arts majors are playing poker with a deck of 51 cards and screaming "GIN!" like the Mad fucking Hatter, and we're supposed to just say, "Sheesh, nutty kids, whaddaya gonna do?"

The Oberlin Review has responded to the lawsuit: https://oberlinreview.org/14904/news/gibsons-files-lawsuit-against-college-raimondo/ The comments against Oberlin and in support of Gibson's are pretty amazing. The student newspaper itself, while fairly impressive organizationally, seems to be a fairly unbalanced whining ink smear in spirit, sporting articles such as https://oberlinreview.org/15138/opinions/whiteness-of-student-publications-threatens-integrity/. Do we need to start busing in minority college students from state institutions to sweeten and leaven the flat, bitter guilt-loaf of white upper-middle class liberal academic existence? Obviously, they aren't depending on Gibson's for sweet carbs any more.
