Banned PMAGS

Re: Banned PMAGS

actually the army has ordered UNITs not to buy, or issue anything except USGI aluminum mags.

"Despite the success of the PMAG, Army officials from the TACOM Life Cycle Management Command issued a “safety of use message” in April that placed it, and all other polymer magazines, on an unauthorized list.
The message did not single out PMAGs, but instead authorizes only the use of Army-issued aluminum magazines. The message offers little explanation for the new policy except to state that “Units are only authorized to use the Army-authorized magazines listed in the technical manuals.” Nor does it say what Army units should now do with the millions of dollars’ worth of PMAGs they’ve purchased over the years.
Magpul officials have been reluctant to comment on the issue. Robert Vidrine, vice president of marketing and sales, said the company found out about TACOM’s message only after it was released to the field."

Re: Banned PMAGS

I can tell you that as of today, Bagram PX still has boxes of them, and I see a ton of dudes only using them and not the aluminum ones. We'll see if anyone actually enforces this rule. Bureaucratic bullshit if you ask me.

They are already inexpensive, I bought some new 30 round PMAGS with a window for less than $14 each.

You over paid. I have a stack I bought for $10/each from a local gun store so you know the price can come down even more than $10.

Re: Banned PMAGS

But wait there is more: just got back from Afghanistan and not so happy to report that not only is the Army restricting the use of PMAG's but so is the Marine Corps. We were told that if we were caught with them in our weapons it would be a Bn NJP. I used mine anyway because that shit they keep issuing us sucks dick.
