Looking to get a knife for general use, camping, hunting, gutting of deer, etc. Whenever I can, I keep my money local, and these guys are in Escanaba, 20 miles from deer camp that we go to every fall, 10 min. south of Bark River, in the U.P. eh?

Anybody have either of these, I am worried that the STS 5 may be a bit too large, at 5 1/2" blade, as opposed to the Bravo 1 at 4.25.

They both look bad ass, but wouldnt want one so large as to be a pain in the ass and awkward to use, and fatiguing.

Also want it to last a lifetimes, to pass on to my boy.

Any input would be great.

From the pics I would go with the first one.It has less belly at the tip which would lend it to small tasks better. The only thing it gives up is skinning would be a hair more difficult.

I have a few of the Bark Rivers. I have a Bravo as well that I beat on with daily use. The Kydex steath will not fit my ticker/wider belts, so I did some mods to it.

The blade is thick, and I've used it from everything from cutting branches, skinning dear, cutting through bone on a dear, and daily opening boxes. Sharpens well.

For the price point, I think its a decent knife.

I also have STS5. Its a tad longer, and for me I don't carry it as much because of that.
