Barnes TAC-TX 110 300 BLK question

I have been attempting to load these using the RCBS small base die set. The seater keeps pulling the plastic tip out of the bullet; this is in the process of seating the bullet to the appropriate depth. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and, if so, what the solution is. Tension on the bullet during the seating process can't really be backed off.

Additionally, I am curious as to what brand / series of 300 BLK dies some of you are using for your SA platforms.

I use Hornady dies for 300 blackout, but haven’t loaded any polymer tipped bullets. I’d say the solution is a replacement seater, but didn’t find anything on rcbs’ website.

I had trouble with hornady dies back when 300 first came out. I switched to forester and have had no issues.

This is part of the problem; I have always preferred Forster dies over all others, but over the past few months (probably the last year, actually), they have been nearly impossible to come by. I'll see if I can score a set and sell the other dies off.

Loaded for a few years with the RCBS set and never had that problem. Are you using converted brass or factory stamped 300 brass? Some converted brass is actually too thick and may cause problems.

Brand new 300 BLK Starline brass. What's happening is that, in the process of seating the bullet to the proper depth, the plastic tip is becoming firmly stuck in the seater (this is happening without having the die set to crimp the bullet in place; I can only imagine that it would be worse if I were attempting to crimp it). At that point, the tip pulls out of the bullet, and is stuck in the seater to such an extent that I have to remove the die from the press and pry the tip out with a long tool. The result is an open-tip bullet (looks a bit like a "controlled chaos" bullet).

Do you reload for any other 30 cal cartridge? Maybe try replacing the seater with one from that die?

I load for .30-06 with a pre-owned set of Hornady dies; I'll try a swap later today, as you recommend. Good suggestion; thank you.
