Krieger has the MTU that I believe is 1.20" in diamiter for 2.75" then tapering to .930 at the muzzle. Some of the other barrels are around the same diamiter at the breech but stay that diamiter for up to 5" before tapering down. Is there an advantage to this or is that just the style some of them are?

Some of it's style and some of it's function. More meat around the chamber for larger calibers, more metal to play with on each end, and so on.
