Re: Barrel Lapping
Not really.
I have done it, but the key value of barrel lapping is to make cleaning easier, and the most effective cleaning strategy with .22LR's is to never clean unless it gets so dirty the basic mechanical operation is compromised.
Point at hand: I recently reaquired my first .22LR barreled action. It had gone over 50 years in disuse, including being caught in a house fire. The outside looks like something used for rust testing, and the bore looked like it had hair growing in it, but when it was cleaned up, the bore literally looks like a mirror. It was all that 'crud' which had preserved that bore through all those decades of neglect and abuse.
