I’m About to build a 6mm creedmoor on a terminus Zeus action for a mid prs/coyote gun gonna run it in a krg bravo stock for coyote hunting to keep it light as possible and a mpa chassis for prs I was thanking about going with a 20 or 22in barrel for the coyote barrel and I was wandering wat kinda muzzle velocity I would b getting out of those and witch do u guys recommend 20 or 22 The reason I’m going so short is because I will b running a CAN also I’m gonna run factory ammo at first for the coyote barrel wat freebore do most guys run for best preformance I will b reloading after first 5 boxes of factory ammo and also wat freebore do u recommend for the prs barrel reloads only in it preferably unless factory shoots so good I don’t wanna reload witch is doubtful but who knows any info will help guys thanks a lot

SAAMI spec chamber. If you get a short freebore factory ammo might not fit. Between 20 and 22, I'd go 22 for the velocity. You're burning all that powder through a 6mm hole, might as well get the benefit of speed.

25fps per inch from published numbers is a good rule of thumb for most calibers. i.e. if Hornady says their 108 will go 2960fps (published numbers come from a 24" barrel most of the time), at 22" you can expect around 2910, and 20" you can expect around 2860. It varies usually within about +/- 50fps barrel-to-barrel, though.

If its 20 or 22 typically you lean to the longer side for xtra fps. In the end, what ever barrel length you choose you still have to build up or find an accurate load and your ballistic app will help with most of the rest, ie; elevation and wind drift for your load. Just saying imho one isnt better than the other if you know how to use it, the faster one will typically cut wind better.

I have a 20 inch RPR in 6mm that I run suppressed all the time. I get 2908 with an omega on there. That was at 86 degrees and about 750 elevation. 108gr ELDM factory stuff is great in it.

Answered you at Accurate Shooter but will here too. I run 28" barrels and get about 3000fps from factory 108 ELDs. So 20-22" I would bet you would be down in the low 2800s with those. Factory stuff shoots pretty good. I shoot it in matches. It's plenty accurate for that but if you wanted to reload you can save a little money.

As for freebore, if you plan to shoot the factory 108s then get the .183 SAAMI freebore. The factory ammo is about .020" off the lands with that freebore. With a shorter freebore you will be jamming factory ammo into the lands. Figure out what bullet you plan to use most and work around that.

Were do u live I’m not real familiar with all the elevation and stuff just yet I have my kestrel but I’m still learning with it and wat kinda pressure r u getting running at 2908 in a 20in barrel if I can get that out of it wit no pressure ill deff go that way Becazue like I said this barrel will b for coyote hunting alone I will be building a 28in for prs one because I will need the weight and two there just no way I could run a 20 in prs lol thanks again guys for all the info

I say go with a 24, gives you free speed since you’re burning more of the powder off, just need to be aware of the speed if you’re going to shoot sanctioned matches with factory ammo. I was running Federal gold medal Berger with a 26” with speeds just over 3200 at like 50 degrees, now my hand loads are 3150 but running stable powder so they don’t really swing much. I ended up doing something similar except went more towards the PRS side of things, started off in a bravo then a MPA comp and now back to the bravo.

I live in Upstate SC. Not sure if suppressor gives a slight boost...MV was done with a LabRadar, and I've taken it to a mile and it works. For PRS I would probably go longer...for general purpose use 16-20 with a can. No idea on pressure, I don't really look at it since it is all factory stuff (factory ammo, factory barrel, etc).
