I have had this rifle for a year now and like it a lot.Been shooting 50gr vmax handholds and getting 3/4" groups at 100 yds.It has a 1&7 barrel and i want to load some 75 gr amax slugs in it.Has anyone tried this with the rec7. Just wondering how it worked out.

Are you planning on single loading or cutting mags? I've heard of people loading them to mag length and then using a heavy crimp to make up for the lack of neck tension but that sounds a bit questionable to me. Also, the Amax is discontinued, the ELD has replaced it.

75 Amaxs have to be handloaded and the overall length required is to long for mag usage. Try the 77 and/or 69 grain smk. They can be loaded to mag length.

Have you thought of using Black Hills 77gr, Mk262, or the tipped version? That is my go-to round for precision 5.56 shooting, especially with a 1:7 fast twist.

That's it. For 18" or 20" barrels and 1:7, those are the best.
