Getting rid of a barrel where the project never came to fruition. Was a Rem 700 project. Not a 700 footprint, an actual Rem 700.

Brand new 24” #4 contour Carbon Fiber Bartlein bored for a 338
Gain LH twist of 9.5-8.75
There is a tiny nick that I couldn’t get to show up in a pic just in front of the chamber area.

This was a project from quite some time ago that I don’t even really remember what my plan was lol.

Is the nick in the carbon fiber forward of the shank? How much shank is left forward of whatever the threading is?

The nick is in the cf yes.
There is exactly 2” remaining beyond the last thread
To answer a pm, as everyone can see in the last pic, this barrel is not chambered yet.

I’m a little confused on why the breach is threaded like it is and why the muzzle threads are a mile long. Any info on what’s going on there?

How deep are the threads? Meaning, can you use that part for a 1.060” threaded tenon? Or, would one need to cut that inch or so off to start afresh? Thank you

The threads are pretty shallow. Could be rethreaded or cut off and start anew.
Was setting it up for a custom muzzle brake designed by myself and my now deceased friend who was a gunsmith of 30 yrs.
