I know this has been kicked around. I saw a couple threads where people say companies make prefits but when you go to their site Bat is not an option. I just ordered a Vampire LA magnum today it is my first custom action and I am stoked. After sitting on the computer for a few hours tonight i feel kind of beat. I was hoping to "build" my own first rifle so that is why i was looking for prefits. I saw carbon 6 and i think one other company did true prefits.

I know blanks are the way to go and that is now setting in much more. I just wanted to have a one stop shop and not ship around and wait on multiple timelines. I am also over thinking all the caliber options and twist rates. I wanted to build a 300prc short barrel with a carbon wrapped barrel to run suppressed for hunting. But I also hand load and want something that will run close to 3000fps with heavier bullets 230max. Just too many options 300wm, 300prc (w2), 30 nos, 300wsm. 300rum would be fun but probably not in a short barrel. I will most likely drop this Vampire into an XLR chassis and run CIP mags.

If anyone has input on the Vampire, prefits, blanks, smiths who turn out accurate barrels I'd love to hear it. If you dont want to over load the smiths send me a message. Ive shot pretty much factory guns all my life except for some of my dads rifles. In my mid 30's now and i am looking to change that. But damn these things get expensive quick.

Bullet central as stated. They are one of the few bat dealers and turn out excellent barrels as well...you aren't going to most likely find any on the shelf prefits for bat actions if that's what you were hoping for but plenty of smiths can turn a bat prefit out the same as they can for the majority of the custom actions avaliable these days

Yeah i changed my narrative and started looking for smiths that are some what local. found one guy who seems pretty legit talked to him for a moment today and he knows his stuff but didn't quote and prices to spin up a barrel. He also said he would have to buy the 300prc aw2 reamer. Which im assuming ill eat the cost on lol.

Anyone know smiths in the treasure valley or surrounding that do good machine work? Yes, I know Dallas is the man but i am sure he is back logged and not sure if he just wants to spin up a barrel. I think most of these smiths dont want to do that. They want to build the whole thing out.

Thinking i might do 300wsm, 300prc aw2, 30nos, or 300 rum in a 22". Leaning towards the first two for components and availability.
