An 8 year old is doing statistical analysis? And of course you know the writer of the article inquired about the data that was used to make that statement/analysis. I’m homeschooling mine with Christian based curriculum. Start the day off with saying the pledge of allegiance, then study a Bible verse,then the typical school subjects.

Granted I have mixed feelings about the pledge of allegiance... I pledge allegiance to a flag..”indivisible”, that whole indivisible turns me off. So I’m pledging allegiance to a flag and I cant divide and stand against the force flying this flag if it goes sour? Besides it was written by a damn leftist socialist anyways. But I don’t discuss that with my children. It’s more important they say the pledge and show patriotism. When they are older we will discuss ol dad’s radical views.

I would rather substitute the word "constitution" for the word "flag." That's what every service member takes an oath to defend. It's not the flag we are protecting but the constitution, the republic and our families.

Pledging allegiance to the constitution would give more meaning to patriotism for children rather than a pretty piece of cloth.

It's true that we are also pledging allegiance to the Republic in the Pledge of Allegiance but I feel that the law of God, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are the documents and ideals that put the flames of liberty in the hearts of people willing to risk everything so future generations will have a better way of life than we did.
