I need some recommendations for a bbl to use in my Glock 35 that has a fully supported chamber. I'm going to be running some buffalo bore 155 gold dots out of it and they are coming out at around 1300 fps, which is pretty hot. The gun is going to be a dedicated woods gun to be used while hiking on trails for protection against bears of the two or four leg variety, etc. Threading isn't a concern since I will not be using a can for this. Also, should I change out the guide rods and springs for something stiffer than the OEM one or just leave that part alone? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Bbl recommendations for Glock 35?

I've changed all my Glocks 40's (22,23,35) to Briley barrels. They need to be fitted but it is worth the extra effort. Brass comes out just like my STI, no more swelled cases.

Re: Bbl recommendations for Glock 35?

I've thought about getting a G20 but decided against it. I already own a G35 and think its cheaper to get a new bbl than it is to get an entire new gun. It would end up costing me several hundred more than I'd like to put into the project if I bought a new piece. Once I have a supported bbl, I should be able to run the hotter stuff and not worry about having kaboom issues. Barrels I've considered are Briley, Storm Lake, Bar-Sto, Jarvis, Federal, and Lone Wolf but don't know which would work better. Are they all kinda like premium rifle bbls meaning that they all perform about the same or are their differences? I've only shot OEM bbls on my pistols in the past except for a Caspian 1911. Any input on the Glock aftermarket bbls is what I am looking for. I just want a good quality bbl that will give me several years of service.

I don't think you really could go wrong with any aftermarket barrel in a Glock. It's not like the mechanical accuracy of a pistol is all that important, anyway. With pistols, it's way more about the driver.

Re: Bbl recommendations for Glock 35?

As long as the bbl can tolerate the pressures safely (gun won't blow up) and it feeds reliably, I'll be happy. Definitely no issues here with driving a pistol. Its not bullseye but its not a shotgun either...I'm sure you know what I'm saying. Smooth, fast and accurate is whrere its at with pistols/handguns as far as I'm concerned. Just don't want any kabooms with my 35. I like the damn thing too much!! I guess the aftermarket bbl idea is more for peace of mind than anything else based on some of what I've seen happen in the Glocks with higher pressure ammo (usually squibs, or double charges but sometimes not). Thanks again for all the input folks. The Brian Enos threads have been very enlightening too!!

Storm Lake drop, no fitting, fully supported, and accuracy improvements have one in my 17 thinking about one for my 21 and my 34. Price aint too bad either, paid ~$120

Re: Bbl recommendations for Glock 35?

I ended up going with a KKM bbl along with a Wolff guide rod and a 19# Wolff recoil spring. After all the reading and talking with users of different barrels, KKM kept being mentioned as one of the better barrels for the Glock so I think this will be a great solution. I wanted to thank everyone for their input on this matter. You guys have been extremely helpful.
