Rifle Scopes BC Flipups on a SS?

I went to my local gun store, brought my SS to find an eye and objective cap for it. We found an objective which works great. The eye is, however, troublesome. If I have the flip-up, I can't focus the eye piece.

So my question is...what is everyone else doing out there?

Re: BC Flipups on a SS?

Perhaps I'm not understanding your question, but it would seem to me you first focus your scope correctly then put you BC cover on the ass end. Once your scope is focused for your eye, you don't re-focus it again and again.....

Re: BC Flipups on a SS?

on the ss isnt the paralax focus on the occu. bell? if so then this could be the problem he's talking about. a similar problem would be the way the whole occu. bell turns while spinning the magnification ring on a NF. Another similar problem would be a obj. cover on a ERGO USO. I solve this problem by positioning my cap to open to the right on 100 yds. If I focus out to 1000 yds, then the open cap rotates to the left and I have room to spin the ring. The open cap ends up on the left for infinity focus so its not a big deal. see if it works for you.

Most people just take off the caps on a NF and put them back on when they are done....its not the end of the world.... think "bikini"

Re: BC Flipups on a SS?

On the SS the parallax focus in where the power ring would be on most scopes. The reticle focus is on the ocular bell. The above posts are correct he just needs to set it once and leave it alone.

It amazes me how many people think they need to sit and fiddle with that adjustment every time they look through the scope. Stupid easy adjust design anyway. That is one thing Leupold has done right. You set it and lock it and leave it alone.

I loan this rifle to my brother fairly often. So since we have different vision...

Anyways thanks for the replies guys. I'll just pull it off when I want to re-adjust it.
