Re: bedding and free floating

Welcome to the Hide but for a question that simple you just need to do a search.

There are several active threads right now about bedding plus plenty of other great threads.

Bottom line - Bedding is a good thing. It will settle down a stick.

On a side note - I've personally bedded a 700SPS and it's not easy. It is a plastic stock and doesn't present the same bedding procedures as a normal stock.

A bedding job done correctly will provide you with repeatability for your rifle platform and shot to shot consistency. Assuming the other variables, barrel, chamber...etc are pretty good to go also.

In another words, bedding is not a usually a huge accuracy improver by itself, but one of the variables that you can do or have done to help in the quest for rifle happiness.
