In general I agree with your assessment. One connection point, in your mount's case, is better than two connection points (pic base to receiver then rings to pic base). However, after putting the Near base on my TRG 42, I don't see that connection point as any sort of weakness, or even possible of failing... 5 lugs (which mate up nice and tight), and 6 screws. I honestly think the receiver would tear apart before that base goes anywhere.

Your mounts look NICE, and I may still switch someday, but it would be purely for the extra features and not any perceived gain in strength.
