Looking at this stock but would like reviews from those who own one, or use to own one. Putting my factory Rem 700 Varmint 26 inch barrel into this stock. Problems if any? and ergonomics when using in prone. Any other suggestions on another stock that may be better and is comparable to the price of the Bell & Carlson.

I have two that came on factory Remingtons and I also love them. Great solid rifle stock. Just bought another one just a few weeks back to put a newer Winchester 70 in that came in some cheesy plastic stock, got it from stockys for dirt cheap and the hinged bottom metal for it from midway.

Probably a million stocks and many I never heard of until I come to this site. I have had three or four and I loved all of them.

Only my latest did I have to break out the Dremel, but I was warned. I was stocking a version of a Mauser 98.

My rifle is in a B&C. I had it inletted for DBM by CDI Precision, and added sling cups to the side of it myself. The gun shoots well below half moa. I've been tempted by Manners and McMillian many times, but its hard to justify when what I have works so darn good. I wish it had adjustable cheek and LOP. Those features are the only reason i'd ever feel the need to change.

I like what I am seeing in regards to the B&C. I do believe I will be calling Bell & Carlson. On this stock it lacks LOP adjustment and I have long arms so I may need to have some work done in that area.

Look at the Tactical, I shared a link above. It has LOP and cheek riser adjustments. They can all need a little fitting for the bottom metal but that is a very easy task.

If you want a detachable mag setup the bravo is the way to go.

The bell & Carlson is solid. It's a bit lighter but also slightly less rigid than a bravo (if you push hard into your bipod you can flex the forend on the b&c.) It'll be more expensive once you buy a bottom metal but works great for a hinged setup.

B&C is probably the best budget stock, vs the bravo being the best budget chassis.

Could just add a sps2 right off the bat. Just did one this week on a hs

I have a BC on both my hunting Tikkas. I really like the feel of them. If I was going for more of the long range set up I would look at the KRG bravo.

I looked at the Bravo and it is all I would need in adjustability. The only thing would be AI mags in that I have a .223 and I believe mags are pretty hard to come by in that caliber.

I have the Target/Competition stock but on a Howa 1500 that I use for a bit of everything and quite like it. Prone is no worries with a Tab Gear style rear bag.
Like others have said if you want to run a DBM that will be an extra cost but I am using the internal mag with floorplate still with no worries and didn't need to do any mods.

I want to keep my BDL setup so I am for sure staying with the B&C. I am in no hurry to run mags and probably never will. I have used BDL style rifles most of my life other than my older milsurps. I have learned a lot from this post through researching ideas given in each post and I thank you guys for the help in deciding what stock to go with.

I have had a BC Medalist stock on my Rem 700 SPS Tactical for 8 ish years now? Maybe even 9? It took my gun from shooting patterns at 100 yards to shooting true groups. The gun is also used for coyote hunting so it sees it fair share of adverse weather.

I like the stock, my only true complaint is the finish isnt the most durable. I have some of it chipping off where its been bumped or hit on something. I guess though I cant expect it to be bomb proof considering the price point. Cosmetically the barrel doesnt line up perfect down the channel either. But its still free floating and still shoots good.

I know the OP said that he isn't interested in detachable mags, but to all those in this thread that recommended other stocks or chassis besides B&C for DBM systems I thought I would put in my 2 cents. B&C now makes a bunch of their models inlet for M5 style DBM. The medalist stock with M5 bottom metal is drop in and is pretty dang comparable to a Manners T2A mini chassis minus all the custom options. You can also sell your BDL bottom metal for about $80 in the classifieds.

I love the B&C stocks. Great quality at their price point.

Did you need to do any work to the stock to make it fit?

Yes. A dremel and lots of patience and time. If you remove to much material you are not getting it back. I was happy how it turned out.

The Magpul bottom metal is by far the easiest AICS bottom metal to install in a BDL inlet. The profile of the bottom metal is very close to BDL except around the actual magazine well. The B&C stock pillar height is perfect for the Magpul bottom metal so no pillar height adjustment is necessary. I can install a Magpul bottom metal in a B&C BDL cut stock in less than 1 hour and have it functioning perfectly. I have done about 5. If you are using a Dremel and going slow figure at least 2 hours.
