Thinking about getting a Beretta 1301 Comp Pro with 21in barrel for 3-gun. Anybody use one? Looking for feedback Pros/Cons.
Currently have a Remington Versa-Max for some reason it doesn't shoot slugs past 50 yards with any accuracy or consistency.
Thanks

Got a 1301 comp couple of months back, it is fast, as for noticeable reduction in recoil damned if I can find it. In fairness this is my first semi-auto shotgun. For some reason I have a habit of dropping 2X rounds from the magazine when initially loading causing a pain in the ass lockup or inability to feed a round into the chamber. This is me and not the shotgun, I have a lifetime of use with the 870 and consider myself awkward att using the Beretta. The fiber front is slightly canted don’t look like much but when using it with the center mount bead very noticeable, for what Beretta wants the customer to pay for this shotgun I think it’s bs that it left Italy factory like this

Thanks. Have you shot slugs from it?

You can unscrew the front sight, apply weak thread locker and then screw it back in clocking it straight. The OEM fiber optic front sucks anyways. It fouls fast and the fiber becomes dim necessitating regular cleaning. Get a HiViz front or something with a longer fiber optic rod if you want to avoid the dimming. The front half of the HiViz fiber rod will foul, but the remaining half remains unfouled and will collect enough light.

Mine can easily sling the old Prime slugs into the head of an ipsc target at 75yds with an rmr for an optic.

I typically keep it gassed up with flight control 00 buck and these stay in a 4-6 inch group at 50yds through a MOD choke.

It's fast fast fast and does run softer than a Benelli. I bought an adapter for the magpul stock in order to get a cheek weld and have been delighted with the recoil management. It eats bird shot just fine too. I'm a fan. My only gripe is that i've not found a rifled choke that was worth a crap and was hoping to use it on hogs.

the function of the gen 1 shell release button included a "feature" for unloading that allowed accidentally dumping the entire mag tube onto the lifter. Several companies offered a cheap guard that would prevent this from happening.

Get a Limbsaver #10702 it’s night and day from the crappy $1 pad it comes with, and the dropping rounds and locking up is a known issue especially the gen 1 versions

yeah but you have the Magpul stock and the factory pad all 1/4" of hard rubber sucks compared to the Limbsaver I switched to.
Iron Skillet who I responded to doesn't feel recoil is light but you must not have read the OP. I like the Beretta cheap ass stock on my Comp. which is a Gen.1 that had the "fatal flaw" just by shooting it, I did not inadvertently even touch the lever. Beretta was worthless in fixing it. They had to resort to the "shroud" fix which was really a bandaid to even sell them because of all the malfunctions being reported. I replaced my lever with the TX4 button which fixed my Gen. 1 model. The Gen. 2 has a stronger spring on the lever release which truly solved the problem, no "shroud" BS.
I also have a Gen. 2 Tactical which runs like a sewing machine but use a Mesa PG stock. I will never use their CS again after my disastrous waste of time despite being a fan of their firearms........

Could your problem with slugs be that you are shooting the wrong type? Rifled barrels will shoot sabot slugs fine while a smooth bore will key hole them in the target. Regular slug will fly straight in smooth bore guns.

Well my LTT Magpul furniture 1301 isn’t for wimps that complains about 1/4” thick rubber pad. If you concentrate your concern to the pad then you have your head in the gutter. This isn’t my quote but a well known pro shooter. Too bad it’s not for you as I don’t need a Mazipad attacehed to the butt of my shotguns but yeah Limbsavers are cats meow.

Yours definitely sounds broken if it released a round and you didn't accidentally touch the release.

I put thousands of rounds through my 1301 (mfg 2014) in various 3 gun comps and never once ran into the "fatal flaw". Nor did any competitor I was ROing. Guys overseas were worried about wearing out piston springs shooting over +75k rounds through theirs before the "fatal flaw" was a thing casuals worried about. To me, it seemed like a batch of bad parts vs a flawed design. It definitely could have been a better design (proved by the Gen 2), but Gen 1s aren't falling apart.

I'm not trying to discredit your own personal experience. Just adding my own.

Yes it was broken and Beretta didn’t care, as I stated I replaced the lever with a button because there wasn’t any other option. My Gen 2 has been flawless. While I’m sure you had zero issues many had problems. It’s wasn’t a problem that you could ignore.

I have the tactical version, and its been awesome. Accuracy with federal slugs is astonishing to say the least. I MUCH prefer this 1301 over the benelli inertia system. The 1301 shoots softer and has cycled everything from the cheapest bird shot to the heaviest 3 inch magnums. That can't be said for my benelli m3.
