Bergara B14 HMR or something else?

I am debating a Bergara B14 HMR in 6.5CM for longer range target work and shooting feral hogs out to ~200 yards. Is there a better rifle for similar money? What sort of accuracy am I looking at for farther shots at 400 yards or more? Regarding the feral hogs, I get good results with a 16" AR-15 in 6.8SPC so, I'm expecting with more velocity and better bullets, the 6.5CM from a ~22" barrel will do a good number on a big sow or boar out to 200 yards. Thoughts on the caliber and rifle?

TIA,
Sid

For hogs I would definitely stick with the gaser. For your first question on the Bergara I have a 6.5CM HMR PRO, .75" groups are pretty easy with 140 ELDM. For a pure long range target gun I would strongly recommend something in a 6mm. I shot yesterday at our local range out to 1000yds with the 6.5CM and the 6GT. I was shooting by my self without a spotter and making calls on the 6.5cm was tough vs the GT. Pros and cons to both but I would recommend shooting both if you can before you start dumping $$ into either.

Thanks! Great post.

For a feral hog herd, the 6.8SPC AR-15 normally is the preferred option. For situations with a solitary hog or two, a bolt action should be fine as well. I have had large groups on my property which I decimated with the AR-15 and 6.8SPC. These days, I'm not the only one shooting so, numbers are more manageable today.
