Bergara Barreled Action - yay or nay

Their Premier actions are are very smooth. Interchangeable bolt heads. I had two, a 6.5cm and a 22-250. Decided to consolidate, bought an AI, and got rid of them. That reminds me, I have two 223 Premier bolt heads that I need to get rid of.

I’ve head less good things about their B-14 actions.

I'd probably look at an Origin and prefit before I went with a Bergara. The Premier and the Origin share a lot of features, but I can't say that I was happy with the QC on my Bergara Premier and the ignition issues. I worked around it... Even though I bitch about Bergara, my Premier 7mmRM does shoot pretty damn well.

I agree with the above that you are playing 'Bergara roulette'.

I've got a Bergara B-14 HMR. It shoots well enough, I can consistently shoot .8 MOA or better (I'm a new precision shooter, mind you, so the rifle is almost certainly more accurate than that). The action... works? I get the occasional FTF where I have to reseat the round in the mag when it sticks. The bolt is less forgiving if you are pushing it not quite directly forwards (ie at a slight angle). But with that being said, it shoots accurately, and for a $850 rifle, I can't complain. I wish I shelled out a little bit more for a Tikka CTR, mind you, or, as suggested here, an Origin with a pre-fit. It'll be fine, and it'll shoot, but it won't *feel* like a high end action.

I have 3 Bergaras. All shoot lights out. A 6 Creed Premier pro that regularly shot .5 or better 5 shot groups. An HMR for my son n 6 creed that shot the same or better. And a Wilderness Ridge in 6.5 creed thats a .5 Mia gun as well. (Handloads in all of 5ese of course.) the Premeir pro is among the best actions I’ve tried in the price range. I like it as much as my Origin and certainly nicer than my Solus. I believe the occasional hiccups are due to being a production rifle and the few squeaky wheels out there get heard the loudest. The smallest sample size gets the most attention. While the thousands of them that run like mine do rarely get a mention. I hear far worse things about other factory rifles.

THANKS!! Makes me feel better. I went with the Premier Series in 7mm PRC. HS Precision Stock, Timney trigger, Talley Rings and a yet to arrive Arken SH4-24. I don't shoot over 400 so it seems like several folks said this would be a quality for my range.

I have a B14R in 22LR, and absolutely love it, as has everyone who has shot it. I have attached the rifle setup and some recent results that show how much better the rifle is than I am (still jerking the trigger).

I have had 2 misfeeds in 30 rounds of Federal ammunition, and 1 misfeed in 800 rounds of Eley and SK. So, I say that the people who complain about feeding/ejection issues are just using the wrong ammo.
