I did a little fitting of the magazine and it now drops out of rifle like it should. Notice in the video where I operate the magazine release several times...if your magazine doesn't freely move away from the front of magazine well it will not drop out on its own.

Bergara BXR magazine now dropping freely

Sanded the sides of magazine to take off any high spots so there was no interference with the stock.
Slightly reduced the circumference of the magazine screw head that fits into the receiver "socket" as it had an overly tight fit.
On mine, I had the same dropping free issue with half a dozen Ruger mags. Since they are used with several existing 10/22 rifles without issue, I'll be more likely to sand the insides of the stock within the mag-well over modifying the mags. I think the finish of the stock might be the issue.
It'll be interesting to see what changes are done by Bergara when I get mine back.
