Hey all, thanks for stepping in. I have accurate dope for my HMR-14 using 120gr out to 1000 yards and was curious if anyone had some feedback on using the 140gr at 100-1000 yards.

I'm currently sitting on hundreds and hundreds of rounds of 140 and 147 ELD and was contemplating just going all to 120. Is it worth trying these 140's and 147's?

Thanks in advance!

What little I've shot of 140ELDM it was pretty straight forward doping the factory match ammo with a standard ballistic solver. Hornady ballistics app 4DOF has custom doppler data for Hornady bullets IIRC and a good reputation for centrefire out to 1k. Of course YMMV etc.

I shoot my 140s out to 1600 yards. In my rifle they seem to fly a little straighter and more accurately than 120s do. Might be rifle to rifle, but that’s all I will shoot

I've been using 140gr ELDMs in my 260 but recently developed a load for the 130s due to better availability.

The 130s shoot alright but are only doing 100fps more, which isn't enough to make up for the lower BC.

Both 140s and 147s seem to shoot well in my 260 and 6.5CM, and for many others.
If you can get them to shoot in your rifle then there's no reason they won't perform at long range.
