Im in a bit of a pickle trying to decide between 2 handguns for a 9mm suppressor host

I have a SilencerCo 45 Osprey, with a 1/2x28 threaded piston for a 9mm.

So, my 2 choices are:

Sig 226 Elite Dark
Gen3 Glock 17 (gen4 grip stippling feels like spiked dog shit)

I have a love/love relationship with Sig, but I know that for shear reliability after retarded amounts of rounds suppressed, I should look at glock.

Thoughts?

Re: Best 9mm suppressor host?

I've heard that the sig 226 might be a better host because it's sound signature is less. Either unlocks over a longer duration or maybe cycling of the slide is less noisy.

But at the same time, I love my glock and have had great results with it. This gen 1 G17 is setup with a stormlake bbl. Sounds scary quiet with 158gr Fiocci Subsonics.

Re: Best 9mm suppressor host?

I have been using a Glock 17 for all of my suppressed shooting with different suppressors. It hasn't let me down yet. I did put a stainless guide rod and 15 pound recoil spring in it.

Re: Best 9mm suppressor host?

I have a P239 Tactical as a host. I like it because I can CCW it pretty easily when not in silencer service. I'd guess I've put about 200 rounds through it thus far and it has been 100% reliable with the Osprey mounted. It is a bit front heavy with the can on, so I bought some rubber Hogue grips to kind of offset this. Definitely easier to grip with this update.

9mm SBR, you pick the brand.
I'm looking for the same thing. I don't own a 9mm pistol but figure I'm in the need so I can use the can on something besides the SBR. I have a few Glocks that I can use Lone Wolf Conversions on and shoot 9mm but the opportunity to have an excuse to buy another pistol doesn't arrive often so I'm going to take advantage of it. I still haven't settled on what to buy either. I'm a Sig and Glock fan and the Sig Combat is top of the list right now but for the price, I could buy 2 Glocks. My search continues as well. Good luck in your quest.

Re: Best 9mm suppressor host?

While I don't have a 9mm can yet, I have a Sig 226 S4, X-5 Tactical TB, 226 Blackwater with a factory TB, 220 Combat (in .45) and just got a S&W M&P 9mm TB. All the 9mm have the same threads, so that is the plan to get a can for them first. You have a ton of hosts out there to choose from. I would go with that Nighthawk Custom 1911 that is all set up fo a can, if I had the cash!

Re: Best 9mm suppressor host?

While on the Sig 226 suppressor host subject here, I had a bud just call me about his. He has a threaded barrel installed (didn't ask what brand) and is having cycling issues with the YHM suppressor and sub sonics. He says it only takes a little stronger load to get cycling corrected but he is out of sub sonic range then. ANy ideas on how to get him running with subsonics?

Re: Best 9mm suppressor host?

I run a Sig 226 X-Five Tactical as a suppressor host and it has been great. The price is a bit high compared to the normal 226, but I think the X-Five has better fit and finish plus the single action trigger is very nice.
