Movie Theater Best Christmass movie?

"A Christmas Story" is the classic by which all modern Christmas stories are judged ;)

Personally, my favorite is a documentary that I saw several years back about the origins of Christmas, the ways various pagan figures and traditions were co-opted and how the modern version popular in the West (especially America) is a fairly recent event. Boring for most, but I'm a history nut and a heathen, so it piqued my interest. Now if only I could remember the name of it...

Victorias Secret Fashion Show. The wives/moms are always in the kitchen and the guys have the annual Christmas Flag Football game. The 50+ year olds are dick heads because they think their age allows them to clothesline and give dead legs to the younger guys. After the game we all pile on the couches, drink beer, eat wings and watch half naked women.

The first 3 Die Hard's,
Lethal Weapon,
RED
First Blood (of course)
Batman Returns (hey, there's decorations in it)
Reindeer Games
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
White Christmas

Things to have on in the background.

If you guys haven't seen Four Christmases with Vince Vaughn, you should check it out. Frigging hilarious. Robert Duval plays his dad and is a hoot.

As far as a classic, I love the good ol' animated version of How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

One that I love and always forget is "The Ref". Hilarious flick.

But I always say Die Hard is the best, not just my fave, Christmas movie. Really, it's a modern take on a classic theme; a common man confronted by seeming insurmountable obstacles in his path to reach his family for the holidays, uses his head and displays uncommon bravery to meet his goal. Plus Hans Gruber might be one of the best villains ever.

Rare Exports, along with the two short films that come with the original movie. Trust me, you'll never look at a mall Santa the same way again. Definitely not the "Coca-Cola commercialized version" we see today.

I like four films for Christmas best:

1) A Christmas Carol (starring George C. Scott)

2) A Christmas Tale

3) National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

4) Mon Oncle Antoine

Yeah, I know some of my favorite Chirstmas shows are French Speaking-- either French proper or Canadian.

Sometimes I might even add this one:
Eyes Wide Shut.

A movie that I would have set during Chirstmas...

Imagine "Little Alex and his Droogs Doing A Christmas Capper?"

We make sure to watch "A Christmas Story" and "Love Actually".

And I'm damn glad someone else listed Love Actually above as I would have hated to have been the first.

Which is not to say I don't dig Die Hard, of course I do. But for me, a favourite Christmas movie includes my wife; and now my child. And my wife isn't thinking "oh, oh, oh, let's watch 'Die Hard' this Christmas..." Ever.

And we did watch NL's Christmas Vacation this year, but it isn't getting a nod because at one point my wife says "my God you've got a lot of Clark Griswald in you!" F that!

I will have to check out a couple of the foreign flicks listed above. Unless it's really depressing, I'm pretty sure if I bust out with "hey honey, let's watch this Christmas movie tonight, it's a foreign flick with Catherine Deneuve", I'm getting laid that night.
