Anyone ever do an objective comparison test of factory 9mm ammo in a suppressed pistol. I have an Obsidian 9 in jail and figured I'd stock up a bit on ammo for it while I wait. Assuming 147gr or heavier subsonic rounds do you guys hear a noticeable difference from standard FMJ ammo and the specialty ammo such as Freedom Munitions Hush, Winchester Super Suppressed, American Eagle Suppressor, etc.?

I bought a few hundred rounds of Privi 158gr subsonic ammo (from AIM Surplus) to try out. I'm shooting a Beretta M9A3 with AAC Illusion 9. I shot half a box so far with good results. It was quieter and more accurate than the Privi 147gr JHP rounds I also bought. Not sure how they stack up against other offerings since I can't find any reasonably priced 147gr ammo around here locally. I'll probably buy some more of the PPU 158gr stuff and also work up a 147gr load myself eventually. The feedback I read online before ordering seemed to be positive.

I just got my obsidian out of jail today and immediately went to the range. I used 115 freedom and fiochi and 124 Aguilla and it sounded great I downloaded a decibel app on my phone and it was measuring 100 decibels so I know it wasn't accurate but the suppressor performed flawless.

Just for the record, 115 and 124 Grain 9mm rounds are not normally SubSonic rounds. Even if they were, they'd be between ~120 and 130db. So, don't put much faith in the App you downloded. Apps like that are convenient for relative comparisons, but not good for absolute measurements.
