In the world of cerekote and Hydra graphics...

Who is still doing bluing?

Have an old Marlin 336
And a old colt revolver

They are some mistreated old family items and I can't imagine a better way to give them a face lift than a rough media blast, and a old fashion salt job...

Any other finish facelift I should be reading up on?

Any hide Smith's still doing bluing these days?

Gary Reeder does a ton of refinishing along with custom work. Reedercustomguns.net
Click on the ask reeder button and it will take you to his forum. He'll post up some pics so you can see his work

Call Colt and Marlin to see what they offer. I believe both are still on the east coast and back in the day no one refinished a colt better than colt.

Thanks for the contact points

I'll be avoiding cerekote myself, but thanks for the idea

And we are not taking surface rust here, I am Referring to MISTREATED items with pits that are beyond any polish work. They need a rough blast surface finish, and a good coating to give them a second chance at being a family item. Right now the family just wants to trash them

Surprised no one mentioned Turnbull mfg. yet , definitely heirloom quality restoration services. Blueing, color case hardening , engraving , you name it, they do it well.
