I need to clean up some of my dad's fun collections up. He lives never the memorial area......a few rifles, 1911s, beretta 92fs,,,,,,,,what's the best shop that s&p does a great job?

I don't want to pick up the gun and find streaks or oily marks and residue dripping off the gun when I pick it up thanks so much for your help. Barrell needs to do stripped,of copper and properly poised down. I've read most place charge 45-75 bucks per gun.

Any suggestions?

Agree, ain't like rebuilding the engine on the space shuttle. Get some Butch's bore shine, and for long term protection get a can of Ballistol and get with it.

Holy hell!!! This one is a no-brainer!!

Get some quality cleaning supplies (bore solvent, copper remover, quality lubricant, and as krw suggested, something like Ballistol to give each firearm a nice lathering up before putting it back into storage). You'll also need some quality cleaning rods, brushes, patches too if you don't already have them. All in all, you'll be out <$100 in supplies and be able to DIY the job for a mere fraction of the cost you'll pay someone to do it (and you'll know the quality of the job done when you are finished).

Give Martin Tidswell at call at Parkhill Gunworks. His number is 713-861-3234.

He is a Nam Vet and the local gunsmith for former President Bush the Elder.

Very funny folks......I clean all my own gear but my work schedule doesn't leave my with a lot of time to clean more fun's to my level of status faction.

Yaou guys thing $50 for a semi-auto is reasonable? And I'm mean NO poweder or fouling anywhere on the weapon, in the action, or in the barrel.

Hey Canpopper,
Thanks for the vote of confidence and the plug for the shop.
I do however need to clear up a couple of things. Although I did do some work for Mr Bush in 2004 it was a job contracted to me through a large local gun retailer. I am definitely NOT his local gunsmith.

I guess the thing of more concern is the idea that I'm a Nam Vet. While I have the highest regard for the vets who served our country in Vietnam I cannot count myself among their ranks. At the ripe old age of 55 I would have been 14 at the very end of the conflict in 73, a bit young by any standard. In fact I did not become a citizen of these great United States until 2000. I hope nothing I've ever said would lead anyone to think I was a veteran of any US military forces, which I am not, or that I would try to paint myself as such. There are plenty of people who do that kind of thing and I surely don't want to be counted among them.
Now to answer the question, Yes Parkhill Gunworks will be happy to do any kind of maintenance, repair, or restoration project any of you might have. We are NOT a custom shop. We don't build guns. Mostly we just fix them.
Thanks again for the plug. It all helps. Martin Tidswell, Gunsmith
