I know they say to use a 30w motor oil on the main shaft...at least I think thats what I recall. Anyways, I've tried everything from bearing grease, white lithium, synthetic and standard motor oils of different weights, general purpose oil for squeaky doors, etc. and nothing has gotten it as slick as what I use now.
Last year I had it so damn smooth, and after I cleaned the main shaft (after a wood sanding project that I forget to turn on the vacuum for), I evidently forgot what I had on it...and its taken me about 3 months to figure out what it was I used last time.
Then I remembered that sweet smell of Butch's Gun Oil. I have used Butch's Bore Shine and Butch's Gun Oil for probably 8 years for cleaning guns and absolutely love it. I must have used it last spring just for shits an giggles, and boy does it work. Best lubrication for the dillon main shaft ever.
I just cleaned the shaft off multiple times the other day and lubed it up with Butch's Gun Oil and let it soak overnight. Ran the press the next day and damn its like glass. Feels like there is no resistance what-so-ever, primer cup spring bounces the shellplate back up all on its own again.
Anyways just my experience. Picture for reference and attention....oh and P.S. - for those who have never used Butch's Gun Oil...it actually does smell very sweet. I know some yahoo somewhere has probably tried to taste it.
