best m1A scope

Re: best m1A scope

Well, I have a US Optics SN-4S that I love, on an SPR-E mount from LaRue, but thats a little pricy. The SN3 is great too.

Might I suggest Schmidt and Bender Short dot or maybe go for a Leupold?

There are really a lot of options. Are you looking for variable or fixed power?

Re: best m1A scope

Not saying the choice of scope is not important, but any quality optic will do. The important thing to remember with the M1A platform is the mount. Have your buddy send off his rifle to Sadlak and let them install their mount. The SAI's are known to be out of spec on the reciever, they are hit or miss, so let Sadlak mount it as they will tweak it to the spec of the individual reciever. A true custom fit.

Re: best m1A scope

I wanted to keep my scout as light and manuverable as I could, and put a scope on it that wasn't too bulky. I put a CM Manufacturing stock with an ACE folder on it (thanks for the info Different) and a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x36 on a Bassett mount. The whole setup is not much heavier than in it's original form.

I am extremely happy with the setup so far and couldn't be happier with the scope. The Nightforce is smaller in dimension and lighter than alot of other brands in its magnification range which is one reason I wanted it. I can't tell that I have lost any useability from the smaller objective size and its still bright enough for any conditions I've tried to use it in. I got the mildot version but one of the velocity reticles would be better for some situations I suppose.

NSX 2.5-10x32 here.. But think the 3.5-15x50 would be great also.... My eyes are getting bad. I havent found anything about getting old that is good yet.....

Re: best m1A scope

I don't know about the "best scope" but I topped off my supermatch with a bushnell 10x mildot 3200 and it has worked just fine hitting 2min sized plates out to 600yds. I couldnt afford to go with a uso, nightforce etc

Ooooooooooo that does sound traditional. How much do those usually run?

I really don't know but with all the modern/newer scopes since the Leatherwood was made you could probably look for a while and find a used one no one wants!
