Rifle Scopes Best mount for NF NXS 5.5-22x56 on my AR-15

Well, I found a reasonable deal on a NXS 5.5-22X56 and now I'd like to know the best way to mount this monster. This will go on my flattop Colt CR6724 24" AR-15.

Since this NXS has a 56mm objective I want to make sure I've enough height for proper clearance without needing to rest my chin on the top of the A2 stock.

Does anyone have a similar flattop with this scope? What height rings or mount are you using?

I used a LaRue SPR to mount my 3.5-15x56mm NXS. It cleared by maybe 1/8", you should have more clearance because you don't have a railed forend. The SPR mount is designed so that you can shoot NTCH just like you do with irons.

Look into the Bobro for a QD mount. Pretty much the best mount available.

LaRue for sure. Consider the LT-158, which is 0.08" lower than the LT-104, and provides some built in forward cant. Otherwise, the LT-104 is a no brainer for mounting optics on a long barrel AR. Either way, your bell should clear the barrel no problem.

After much deliberation, I chose the NF 1.375 Uni-Mount.

i got the same rifle.......your choice....may not be tall enough for proper cheek weld......but then everyones face is different

Is there a general rule of thumb for mounting a scope on an AR regarding height? I know on a bolt gun most folks want it as low as possible. On an AR most agree w/ Boltripper, but I don't know of a concensus on a range of heights to start with (depending on face/head design I guess).

Curious as I'm working on a MAK -- basically same profile as an AR.

OP: Hope I'm not hijacking your thread. Should I just head over to ARFCOM?

I appreciate all the advice gents! I couldn't be happier and it's a good thing I went with the 1.375" UniMount for my 56mm bell.

I just went through this exercise, you made the right choice. I bought the low Unimount first and had to send it back for exchange You did good

Have the same setup 5X22X56 NSX and used the Armalite mount. Return to Zero Moved to the AR10 and then back to the "15.(cheaper shooting) and can see .22 holes at 200 yard with ease. Some room over the handguard, under the bell. Looks like the same handguard system too.
