This question has probably been asked and answered a million times but I cant seem to find it..

So can someone please direct me to a thread or a video reviewing and testing or just know which muzzle break is the best on the ar 15 plat form..

Re: Best Muzzle brake for ar-15

Reason being.. Im in the market for a muzzle break to slap on a new ar 15 im looking to get because the factory one just doesnt do it for me.

I dont plan on having a full comp muzzle break or anything.. just something that looks good and does a good job.

PRI makes a great one they show a video of a man shooting a full auto M-4 with a PRI and without and you can see the differnce in the grouping and the ability to control the weapon.Might I also suggest a Spikes Tactical Heavy Buffer. I have one and they are nice as well.

My personal favorite is Surefire MB556AR I bought a used MB556K model on here to try it out. The hype was real I put the K model on my dads rifle and ordered this one for myself. He loves his, I love mine. They really work well. As far as looks you either love them or hate them but you can not argue with performance. I had a pri as well and IIRC it was comparable to the surefire in performance.

Thanks a lot for that guys.

It has an option to either not pin or pin it 1 to 6..

What does that mean and what would be the best option to go with pin it or not... If so how many?

If i get one or 6 pins its still all $15.

I'm looking at getting the spikes tactical m4 carbine for $789.

If all you want is recoil reduction, and extra volume be damned, then look at a tank brake. I had an FSC30 which was very good for a FH/MB combo, but I'd bet a few p-mags it won't stand up to a dedicated brake for recoil reduction. Google up "A Question of Compensation" in Front Sight mag, Nov-Dec '07, and "What are you compensating for?" in the Nov-Dec '09 issue. More info than you likely need to make a great choice. Best––carb.

Re: Best Muzzle brake for ar-15

i own a surefire MB556k and a pwc fsc556. the surefire reduces more felt recoil better than the fsc556, but i like how the fsc reduces flash. the flash reducing capabilities of the fsc is noticeable on an overcast afternoon. if i was to keep just one, i would keep the fsc due to the fact that it both flash hides and reduces recoil.

I went with a PWS SM556 on my current build for the fact you can use gem-tech HaLo's and knights suppressor's.

I would've liked to have gone the battle comp route but they havent made a suppressor compatible brake yet but they say they'll get there eventually.
