Looking for a little feedback on experience. I've had bad luck with muzzleloaders in the past and haven't muzzleloader hunted in several years, but I acquired some land that I could greatly benefit having one. What is the best muzzleloader under $500 that will shoot out to around 300 yrds?

I’ve not taken either mine to 300, although I think it could be done. I’ve shot both my T/C Encore and CVA Optima Elite out to 250yds with good results. I’ve been using Barnes TMZ’s with MMP sabots and sub bases. The powder I’m using is Blackhorn 209. If ultra long range with a muzzleloader is your goal, look into Pittman’s line of higher BC projectiles.

Thank you. The cva optima was one I was looking at.

Im a big fan of the Knight Disc Xtreme. their primer sytem is great . I shoot out to 300 all the time open sights. Ill post pics and video tomorrow. I think bullet/ sabot / and especially powder is the biggest factor to accuracy.

For $500 I'd go with the Knight original DISC rifles. I picked up mine with a thumbhole stock for $330 at Scheels. The price on the remaining DISC's dropped drastically when Knight introduced the DISC Extreme (which sells in the $500 range). I love it. It's powerful, dead on accurate, and a pleasure to shoot. I'll probably never shoot the Traditions it replaced again.

I'd also look at the Thompson/Center Omega. It look like a really nice rifle, but I'm not sure about the price range.

Great info

I wasn't planning on shooting over 150 yards so I was looking at picking up a CVA bergara barrel mountain rifle, they were in the $400 range. I have seen guys take this particular rifle out to 250 yards.
