Best pocket pc value..............

Re: Best pocket pc value..............

Depends on what ballistics program your looking for. Theres tons of info on ballistics programs on here. I'd suggest finding which one you want and go from there. As far as handhelds like the HP iPaq or something get one that uses an SD card if you want a windows based program. I used to have one but once I got my iPhone I didn't need it anymore so I gave it to a friend. It all boils down to what your looking at doing with it, and the program that you really want to use.

Re: Best pocket pc value..............

IMHO you really have 2. The Dell Axim 51. It runs Mobile 5 and 6.5. It will run any of the popular programs. Number 2 (should be number one is the TDS Trimble models. They are ruggedest PDA's on steroids. They are very expensive so if you don't have deep pockets don't even follow my link you will just get disappointed.

No point in having multiple devices to do what a single device can do. Get a Droid(or iPhone if your weird like that) and you have a phone, music, internet, PDA, ballistic computer, and most everything else you could ever want from a handheld devise all in one compact unit that youll always have with you.

Don't have a phone and don't need one. Nightforce has a ballistic software program that began my interest in pocket pc. For anyone who might know, what handheld pc. do you think our military snipers use? xray9

Re: Best pocket pc value..............

To use a phone on some of the programs such as Patagonia you would need a Windows phone and I am not sure that Patagonia has updated the software for Windows Mobile 7
Just sayin'

The last one I heard of was ABC from Cheytac running on a TDS Recon as I posted above. Not sure about other platforms and systems. I am sure someone will post about that.

Re: Best pocket pc value..............

This is my first post to the forum. Currently I am shooting a Browning BAR 30.06 with an Elite 6500 scope. My brother, nephew, and another friend are very much into shooting well and they shoot various .308's, 30.06, 300 WinMag, .220 Swift, .243, and one has a custom .50. Various scopes for Leupold, Bushnell, ..., to Nightforce. They do a lot of hand loads as well.

I am the geek of the bunch. That is why this thread caught my eye. I am looking for a simple set of features for trajectory calculations to add to my iPhone app. Enough features to get the job done while not trying to take on the high end devices.

If you are willing to tell me what you would want I am willing to listen and see if I can code it up.

Otherwise, just saying hello. My best group with my setup at 100 yards (on sand bags) is 2 inches, 3 shots, one dead center, using cheap Walmart ammo, the $12.00 for 20 stuff. Trip home to Kentucky got canceled due to work, but the plan was to try some hand loads, my brother wants to see what he can get out of the rifle. He can out shoot me any day.
