I'm sure this has been done here many times before...

I'm new to the hide and new to the 300wm but, not new to reloading or shooting for that matter.

So, is it H1000?

I'm planning on launching everything over 200gr at as high a velocity as possible safely through a 26" barrel with a 1:10 twist.

So, I'm trying to figure out if the 240gr SMK is something I can launch out of my 1:10 barrel and it fly truly.... or, should I stick to the 220's?

Sorry, I'm new to the 300wm and, I'm chomping at the bit.

Trying to shoot the flattest... least bothered by wind as possible and, I'd like to know what you all have done to make the long yardage gong shots.

I mean, I know the 190s will make the gong ring at 1000 but the 240s will fly inside of that if I can launch them.

So, I'm basically just asking for advice. I'm new at LR precision rifles but, I'm old at shooting and I've done my time at the national match course and service rifle.

i have had great success with Ramshot MAGNUM powder with my 300winnie

tried retumbo, and r22, they were ok

210 bergers, 3000fps, and no signs of pressure , regardless of the outside temps. 24 moa to 1000yds, (verified many times at local range and f-class comp's)

When I quizzed the Sierra guys about LD shooting my 300, they suggested the 210. I'd been shooting the 200's. Of all the bullets they make, for a 1:10, they felt like the 210 would give the best downrange performance. Not saying you can't get the 240's to work. ( some guys complain about the significant torque induced by the 240, but I haven't shot them).

I shoot both RL22 and H1000 behind 208 Amax's. RL22 seems to be more accurate, but I have a LOT more development time with it. It is also MUCH dirtier and has a reputation for premature barrel wear and I've found it to be temp. sensitive.

H1000 is very clean burning, seems to be a little cooler (my barrel doesn't *seem* as hot to the touch after 3 rounds), but I've had more trouble finding sweet spots.

I've been using Retubmo with the 208s and 210s for a while. I seem to get better velocity w/ Retumbo than R-22. All of my bullets are moly coated though. 3050fps with the 208 A-max.

I use R-22 almost exclusively for my 190grn SMK loads. After I rebarrel the moly is going away. No need for it really.

I also have H1000 and 7828SSC, just haven't worked up a load for anything yet.
