I have a take down 10/22 that I want to try a red dot on. I have experience with Aimpoint as I put one on my 460 S&W for hunting. I have been very satisfied with it. It seems to be great quality, and taking the recoil abuse quite well. I just don’t want to spend that kind of cash for a factory 10/22 that is just going to be used for plinking inside of 75yds. But on the other hand I want something that will hold zero and be functional. I was thinking about a sig ROMEO4 but not set on it yet. Anybody have a suggestion they could offer?

If you can expand your budget just a bit, the Trijicon MRO can be found on sale from time to time.

You would have to come up with a mount but I trust a Trijicon more than a China red dot and the lens is bigger so it has a nice FOV and it works well with both eyes open.

Battery life is great and the Tango Down cover will protect it from rough handling like a 10-22 is prone to receiving.

For a factory 10/22, I'd just stick a TRS-25 on it. I have them on a couple of plinker 22 rifles and they are adequate. I even put one on my Ruger PC Carbine which is basically a beef-up, 9mm version of the Ruger 10/22 takedown.

Aimpoint or Trijicon if you want to spend a lot of money, Holosun if you want to spend some money, TRS-25 if you want to spend very little. I have several Holosuns and TRS-25s on multiple .22lr and .223 rifles, and one on a Buckmark pistol too.

I love the Holosuns in particular; I don’t think the extra cash for the Aimpoint/Trij gear is worth it while the step up from the TRS-25 is substantial.

I’m not 100% sure of this but I believe many of the Sig Romeos and PA red dots are made by Holosun.

I picked up a Burris FF3 for my TD here on the hide for cheap...about $110. After several range trips it has held zero, is aesthetically pleasing and functional IMHO.

For consideration: a Vortex Sparc II for $129 shipped:

Use the code "MDX" to get the $10 off and free shipping.

I got one of these on one of my AR's. Works very well and should do well on a 10/22

Used FF3 ($140) for my 10/22 TD. I initially put a Sparc on it but switched to the Burris in order to keep it more compact and lower on the rail - the Sparc, while great on an AR, sat too high for my liking given the ergos of the 10/22.

I have a Truglo on a 10-22 and S&W Victory, they stay zeroed and have click adjust. I have had them for 4 years. No problems. You can pick them for less than $50.00 https://www.truglo.com/optics-red-d...ot.asp?catid=52E3D7409570433EBF69FA2CBEB51CA6

I've used the Bushnell TRS-25 ($89-$129 range) on my .22 Ruger, Marlin 795 and now taken a deer with it on my rifled Rem 870, a very reliable red dot. I also own three Vortex Sparcs, the original, Sparc II and the AR. exceptional civilian red dots. Used the on 5.56, .223 an 7.62X39. They will certainly serve your well on a .22 LR. Also the Vortex Viper, a very small red dot (a reflex) can be had around $200.
